Tim Casey and the Martyrs

Minneapolis, MN

The first time you hear a Tim Casey song, you will be humming and singing along before the end of the song. That’s a sign of great songwriting! Cast a net on popular rock’n roll music, reel it in, sauté and season to taste – and your senses will be treated to the essence of Tim Casey & the Martyrs. It’s a secret recipe with flavors of Foo Fighters, Counting Crows, Green Day, Harrison, Lennon, McCartney, Rundgren, Petty, Zeppelin, and more – and yet it is 100% Tim Casey.

The Martyrs is the solo project of one of Minneapolis’s up-and-coming songwriters and sideman, guitarist - Tim Casey. This guy has performed, recorded, and toured with several bands in the past 10 years. He’s graced almost every stage in Twin Cities where original R&R music is performed, and also has performed in Chicago and New York a few times. Tim is a three-time veteran of Moondance Jam. His resume of recording sessions is a virtual who’s who of Minneapolis producers – the guys who record and produce bands like Nirvana, The Honeydogs, Soul Asylum, and more.

The band’s foundation is heavy and unpretentious. Robb Burnham (drums), Lee Rosenblum (guitar) and Kent Peterson (bass) honor the code of roots music, but know how to hit the hooks with just the right notes. Casey takes full advantage of this architecture. His songs follow predictable rock formulas, with appreciated emphasis on inventive harmonies here and there to keep you guessing. Kris Brauninger’s Hammond organ and backing vocals offers a pleasing balance to Casey’s lead vocals and guitar. Casey’s long experience as a sideman has honed his guitar chops and maturity. He can shred, but he doesn’t feel the need to prove it on every song.

The Martyrs are making converts at every show. Great rock’n roll still lives in Minneapolis - check out Tim Casey and the Martyrs.
